About Dan

Award Winning Experience that goes beyond ideas

Behind The Garden Design Doctor is Dan Goddard, an award-winning garden designer and the founder of The Garden Alchemist.

With over 30 years in the industry, Dan brings a depth of knowledge that comes from both hands-on experience and formal training, including three years studying horticulture and garden design at Berkshire College of Agriculture.

Over the years, he has worked on a wide range of projects, from full garden transformations to smaller, detail-focused improvements, giving him a clear understanding of what works in real spaces.

What sets his approach apart is a focus on real-life usability. It’s not just about how a garden looks, it’s about how it works, how it feels, and how it fits into everyday life.

Why This Service Exists

Because not every garden needs a full redesign

Through his work, Dan recognised a common problem.

Many homeowners feel stuck with their garden. They know it could be better, but they are unsure where to start. At the same time, a full design service is often more than they need or more than they want to invest.

The Garden Design Doctor was created to bridge that gap.

It gives people access to expert advice at a level that makes sense for their project, helping them make smart decisions, avoid wasted spend, and move forward with clarity.
